Welcome to Jeffersonville

Feel worlds away from every care in this tiny, charismatic village pressed into a landscape of inspiring natural splendor.

Stepping into the town of Jeffersonville is akin to stepping back into pure nostalgia itself, a place where dazzling foliage and historic mills evoke a fairy tale atmosphere. Though a mere 30 minutes from resort destinations such as Stowe, Jeffersonville retains its off-the-radar vibe and is perfect for those hoping to settle close to the action without having to be a part of its bustle.

Jeffersonville was incorporated in 1897 as a village within the town of Cambridge and remains flush with historic charm to this day. The village is minutes away from the base of Smuggler’s Notch, synonymous with its resort that offers year-round outdoor adventure, including skiing, biking, and waterpark fun. Jeffersonville is also known for its unforgettable showcases of color in the fall, and visitors love driving down the old roads to encounter lush meadows, farmhouses, and gorgeous woodlands.

Due to its small size, Jeffersonville’s residential real estate market is one where properties can be hard to find. But for discerning buyers, the chance to own their dream house in this visually arresting destination is well worth the hunt and the wait. Spacious historic abodes and charming single-family homes with plenty of acreages dominate the market here. Buyers can also expect to find large property lots available and ready for building.

Local Lifestyle

Despite its small size, Jeffersonville maintains an energizing Downtown district loaded with charming local restaurants and boutiques. Residents and visitors can walk the immaculate streets admiring the historic buildings, many of which now house unique culinary and commercial properties. Like much of Vermont, this quintessential New England town is primarily oriented around exploring the great outdoors.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Downtown Jeffersonville harbors more than just incredible eats and a lively community spirit. Snug between the Lamoille River and Brewster River, this beautiful location is home to art galleries, historic districts, local grocers, fashion boutiques, mercantile shops, and general stores able to accommodate the day-to-day needs of residents.

This portion of Jeffersonville is also the location for the Smuggler’s Notch Distillery, which has been chosen by USA Today as one of the top 10 vodka distilleries in the United States. The company’s signature vodka has earned a double-gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and even a gold medal from the Beverage Testing Institute.

For the foodies at heart, there’s a cornucopia of options. For example, 158 Main leans into the New England spirit with its sumptuous array of American fare crafted with both tradition and innovation. Prefer to keep things simple? The Cupboard Deli keeps residents well-fed and satisfied through its menagerie of baked goods, gourmet sandwiches, and deli classics. Village Tavern is a true neighborhood joint. This is a family-friendly spot where mouthwatering pub fare is always made with fresh and locally-sourced ingredients.

Things to Do

Smuggler’s Notch Resort is, without a doubt, the pinnacle of entertainment in Jeffersonville. Particularly popular with families, this resort is a year-round vacation destination that stays busy every season. In the summertime, visitors flock to the resort’s large waterpark, pools, natural basins, and water playgrounds to cool off. Before the name was claimed by the above resort, Smuggler’s Notch referred to Vermont’s most dramatic road, a passage used by the British Army as a supply line in the War of 1812.

Smuggler’s Notch is open spring, summer, and fall; it traverses Mount Mansfield State Forest to connect Stowe with Jeffersonville. In season, you’ll find breathtaking hiking trails and opportunities for camping along Smuggler’s Notch. The road is designated as a State Scenic Road. Be on the lookout for peregrine falcons.

With fall comes the opportunity to enjoy foliage-viewing boat rides and cool autumnal hikes. In winter, visitors break out their snowshoes and skis to adventure through the surrounding mountainous landscapes. Locals are also just 20 minutes north of the famed Stowe Mountain Resort, a top-notch ski destination with a national reputation for excellence.

All seasons, save for winter, also offer several social events and live performances throughout the calendar, from a quaint farmers market to music concerts. The adventurous at heart won’t want to miss out on the resort’s year-round zipline canopy tour or its tree-top obstacle courses and climbing adventures.
